Environmentally Responsible

We have had some questions lately about our packaging and if it is recyclable and BPA free.

When you are adding hot water to a structure designed to function as our package does (as a vessel but also a dispenser) – a recyclable material would just not hold up to the heat, moisture and function. Consider that most of the freeze-dried foods (that you reconstitute in the bag) also are NOT recyclable. Matt Hustedt, the founder and creator of Nature’s Coffee Kettle is an avid outdoorsman and the environmental impact of the packaging was a consideration. Our packaging reminds the user to dispose of the package responsibly. We will be launching REFILLS for the Colombian Coffee the first of the year and refills for our other coffees and teas will follow soon after. This means the kettle package can be used more than once (our packaging recommends no more that 5 times). This will help eliminate waste and be cost effective for the users who will want great coffee again and again. Refills for the soup, hot chocolate and apple cider are not an option because these are food products and the packaging would harbor bacteria after use.

And yes, our packaging is BPA free.

Time and Success

Time keeps moving and Nature's Coffee Kettle keeps moving toward success. It's been some time since we have posted on our blog but regardless - we have been busy. Here is a time line to get you up to speed on our activities.

August: We had tested two coffee flavors at the Outdoor Retailer Show in August; French Vanilla and Hazelnut. We launched Hazelnut Flavored Coffee just a few weeks later and it is proving to be a top seller. It's really a great flavored coffee!

September: Nature's Coffee Kettle exhibited at the Nation's Best Sports show in Fort Worth Texas. It was a great show for us and many retailers from across the country ordered our great beverages.

October: Our list of retail stores continued to grow. We had some great reviews and one in particular was noteworthy..... www.backpacker.com

November: These last two months of the year are for planning our success for 2011. We are working on packaging for refill packs that will be available the first of the year. We are planning to add a few more industry trade shows to promote our products and of course - reviewing new products to add to the product line.

Outdoor Retailer Summer Market! We are there!

This is an important week for Nature's Coffee Kettle. We are exhibiting at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market. It's an important show for us because buyers from outdoor recreation stores - from the mom/pops to the big guys are here to buy.

This is our second year, but with a larger booth in a better location, we are getting great traffic and the opportunity to present our 7 different flavors to the buyers. If they have never seen the concept, at first they have a puzzled look on the face -- then comes the "aha" expression. Of course, we are offering samples and that really has them hooked.

Be looking for Nature's Coffee Kettle beverages in your local outdoor recreation store. We are sure to be in many. And - if you can't find us there, ask them to carry our great products OR you can order online from our online store. Either way, you will LOVE the convenience, lightweight packaging and a great cup of your favorite beverage.

Ready for Outdoor Retailer Summer Market!

We are so excited to again be at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market. The new booth was set up at the office and looked just like we had planned. The campfire was a hit with the staff and they commented on how real it looked! But, of course, it's not. Here is what it looks like. We have the whole "scene" , complete with camp stools, picnic table and samples of our beverages...just waiting for people to enjoy. See you at booth BR407!

Nature's Coffee Kettle will be attending the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market for the second year. We are excited to have buyers sample the 7 flavors we now offer.

Come experience the pleasure of sipping your favorite beverage by the campfire! Really! We know they won't let us have a real campfire. So - OK - it's fake but it looks real! There will be camp stools to sit, a picnic table, trees and the mountains in the background.


When designing this booth we wanted to capture the experience of drinking coffee by the fire. Outdoor activities create memories and Nature's Coffee Kettle products enhance the memory.

Hot Tea in the Mountains

Another climb and another great cup! The photo shows a happy climber on one of our friend Gunny's latest trips -- enjoying a great cup of black tea. And remember, each Nature's Coffee Kettle package makes 4 cups of your favorite beverage or soup. Looks like she is going to want to share!

Mountain Climbing in Colorado

Our friend Gunny took along some Nature's Coffee Kettle beverages when climbing Quandary Peak and Mt. Holy Cross in the Colorado Rockies....

“It was a great climb and very, very cold! All the product was great!

*We started at my base camp of 9985 feet. We were in an expedition tent at that time so stove was warm and the nights were only in the teens. I brewed up some coffee and soup, both were a hit, the soup was excellent!

 *We packed that evening for a trip to the trail head and the product all packed very well. I was able to roll/fold the packages and had no problems finding room. They are light weight as well.

* We left the next morning, temps were -1 degree at the trail head, no winds yet, headed up to tree line and took the first break. We were at approx 11,500 feet and well protected. The soup and tea were a hit. They stood on the snow well for a few minutes, but I would recommend placing a foam mat under it to keep the product hot and keep the snow from melting under it.

* Broke tree line and the winds hit It was gusting at approx 25 MPH with a temp of -8 degrees and it was getting fun at this point! We took our next break at approx. 13,800 feet. We were fully exposed and bitterly cold! I melted some snow and started to brew coffee. I will admit it was a struggle to get the cap off. I passed it to a team mate who also attempted to remove the cap, no luck. I gave it on last try and the seal broke free. We enjoyed our coffee in a hurry. it did get cold quick but in all fairness to your product, the weather was extreme at this point.

* We continued up and debated turning back at 14,000 feet. The winds were blowing at a steady 40 mph and the temps had plummeted further! We were 200 feet from the summit, so I made the call to push on and we topped out to the coldest summit I have been on.  It was bottoming our thermometer in the pack out at -15, not factoring the 40 mph wind chill. We spent 3 minutes up top. I took some photos and we started down.

*One of the guides had injured his knee and was starting to drag. I divided up gear and headed down first to remove my gear, reload fuel and come back up to assist them down. I made it back to tree line and realized it was getting dark and the lows were going to start bottoming out at -15 at 7000 feet. I brewed up one more tea - took a few quick drinks and poured the rest in my insulated Nalgene and started back up to meet them.

*I found them at dusk at approximately 12,800 feet. I did a few changes in the order of travel, traded poles out with a client who had fallen and bent his and started back down. We worked our way back thru the forest to the trail head and found the base camp manager ready to call SAR. I loaded everyone up and we headed out.

*I have some frostbite on my middle finger which I had the skin removed from yesterday, a bit on my nose, otherwise all is well.
 
The products were all great, and with the exception of the cap problem, there were no issues. I would highly recommend these to anyone and will most certainly use them again.”
 

Picking up Steam - Outdoor Retailer Summer Market Success!

It's been some time since the last post. We enjoyed great success as the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market. We received positive feedback about our product line and also some great suggestions. One of the best suggestions was to add hot apple cider as one of the specialty flavors. We hadn't thought of that but it's now in the development stage!

It felt like our coffee brewer in a bag was the buzz of the show. People were sending other people to our booth to find out what we were all about. So many people commented that making a good cup of coffee when outdoors was a big problem (and they want their coffee!) and our product would solve that. We found that our beverage bag crossed over into many outdoor activities, boating (ever tried to brew coffee on a sailboat?), winter sports (skiing, snowmobiling, etc.)

We are working hard on the ever time consuming details, We have had many inquiries from retailers and ecommerce sites and we are working hard to get this great product on the shelf (or online). Join in the buzz and let your friends know about the coffee brewer in a bag!

Very soon you will find us in your local retail store or online. We are developing ads for the web and will be posting a YouTube video very soon. The momentum will only pick up steam (like in a GOOD cup of coffee!)

Coffee anyone?

We are busy making preparations with a new product and presenting it at our first national show. We have no idea what to expect as far as response. How many cups of coffee will we serve (how many cups with our logo do we need), how many coasters (freebie) will we need? We are only bringing 250 of the "coffee brewer in a bag" , but will that be enough? We do know one thing....we have a great product and there is nothing like it on the market.

A coffee brewer in a bag that brews fresh coffee in 30 seconds. All you need to do is add hot water. So easy! Who needs a coffee pot while camping or hiking? It's big, and bulky and you have to carry it for miles! Hey! How about adding it to a gift basket for your favorite outdoors enthusiast!

Camping Gear Necessity! New product to be presented at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market

Nature's Coffee Kettle -- A coffee brewer in a bag has been a long time coming! And not it's here! We are excited to present this new, patent pending, coffee brewer to the retailers of outdoor products. We will be attending the Outdoor Retailer Summer Show in Salt Lake City this month.
